Magazine Film Reviews

The purpose of Film reviews is to provide information and opinions on upcoming films which are about to be released. An important part of a film review is to provide the synopsis of the film, with some detail, but not giving away the whole film to the audience. Another aspect of a film review is an interview with the actors and director of the film and getting their views and opinions across in the article.
Film magazines also try to convey different opinions on the film, designed to produce criticism and therefore producing a balance of opinions, so that the readers are aware that the magazine is honest and unbiased about the film, and therefore it would help in the persuading of the target audience as readers prefer to read both negative and positive themes of the film. If a film review was biased in anyway, the reader would be reluctant to watch the film due to the fact that they feel that they are being forced into thinking it’s a great film.
Magazine film reviews also introduce certain themes and subject matters about the film, so therefore the readers can establish whether this film is what they want to watch. It allows the audience to understand the actor’s role as well as the directors intentions and style.
Film reviews give the audience a second and expert opinion on the film, persuading them to watch it. Most readers prefer to read the reviews of a certain critic as they trust their opinions and regard them highly, so this is included. Star ratings are also important in a review as they summarise how successful a film is, which persuades the audience further and because they are short and simple it is quick in telling the audience how good the film is.
